Chief Executive Officer of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Dr Dexter James says the Hospital is planning to improve the quality of service at the hospital in a number of ways this year, including by reducing waiting lists and waiting times in the Accident and Emergency Department.

Speaking yesterday during the launch of the cataract initiative, which will lead to the treatment of an estimated 5 hundred patients who have been waiting for cataract surgery. Dr James says this is just the beginning for the Hospital, which intends to tackle a number of critical issues in many departments.

He said, “we want to look at areas such as the waiting lists, both in terms of surgery as well as patients waiting for diagnostic investigations. There is also the question of improving our appointment system, our wait times in the Accident and Emergency department, and expanding visitation privileges to members of the public on selected wards.”
