‘Kooyman brings jobs

More than a hundred Barbadians have found jobs with the opening of a 14 million US dollar megastore by the Netherland Antilles based Kooyman group.

Chief Executive Officer of Kooyman Holding International, Herbert van de Woude, says the Barbados operation is the company’s largest-ever investment and stressed that they neither requested or were granted concessions by the Barbados government.

Addressing the opening Prime Minister Mottley declared that Barbados was willing to welcome what she called clean businesses that employ Bajans and dont demand excessive concessions.

Chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association Ed Clarke welcomes the Kooyman investment saying competition should be seen in a positive light.

Meanwhile, President of the Barbados Chamber of commerce and Industry Tricia Tannis has a similar view.
