Police investigating reports of ATM skimming of bank accounts

Barbados customers of at least three banks have reportedly lost money from their accounts after skimmers yet again targeted automatic teller machines, ATMs.

Police confirm that they are currently investigating such reports.

Customers of First Caribbean and Scotia Bank are said to be among those affected in the latest attack.

The issue was highlighted by an alleged victim in a voice note circulated to warn others.

The Barbados Bankers Association said in a statement that it has been made aware of an issue involving the use of ATMs at several commercial banks.

It says the matter is currently in the hands of the police and the association will make a further statement once their investigations are completed.

The statement adds that in the interim, clients of any commercial bank in Barbados are urged to contact their financial services institution if they suspect any unauthorized use of their account.
