The roof on the VIP stand at the National Stadium was damaged by fire this afternoon, apparently caused by embers left by a welding torch from workmen that have been repairing the structure. The incident caused little disruption to the Alleyne School sports that were underway there.

Supervisor at the National Stadium Anthony Leacock explained to Starcom Network News what transpired.
