Kadooment Band leaders in agreement with the NCF following a meeting with the culture minister

After a meeting with the minister of culture last night, Crop Over band leaders are reporting both sides are now generally in agreement on many key issues, with the main issue to be discussed further being the details of the logistics for Kadooment Day itself including the route and starting point.

Yesterday, minister of the Creative Economy, Culture and Sports John King along with National Cultural Foundation, CEO Carol Roberts-Reifer announced at a news conference tax concessions for cultural practitioners.

But at his own news conference shortly afterwards, President of the Barbados Association of Band Leaders and Masqueraders Chetwin Stewart indicated that were still key issues to be resolved.

However, after a  more than two hour meeting with the minister last night, Mr. Stuart was in a much more upbeat mood this morning when speaking to Starcom Network News, heaping praise not just on the minister, but especially Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley for her stance in relation to how the sector should be treated.

Mr. Stuart also notes over 90 percent of the bands and nearly all the large or major ones are now represented by his organisation.
