This country’s fete promoters have issued an appeal for an end to the gunplay and have pledged to do everything possible to ensure the safety of their patrons this Crop Over.

Chairman of the Entertainers Association of Barbados, Rudy Maloney, was speaking against the background of the fatal shooting of 32- year- old Dave Archer a security guard on the MV Dream Chaser, party boat.

Mr. Maloney called for an end to the violence and expressed concern about its possible impact on entertainment events.

Mr. Maloney says the promoters will do all they can to secure their events but stresses that violence requires a societal solution.
