There continues to be an outpouring of tributes and expressions of grief over the death of a young mother and her infant son who drowned at Welches Beach, Christ Church yesterday. Meantime, an eight-year-old relative of the victims who was also at the beach with them recovers at home from the ordeal.

Twenty-seven-year-old Nioca Springer and her five-year-old son Nico perished in the beach tragedy.

Nioca’snephew had also gone to the beach with her but his mother Rene Springer tells Starcom Network News that while he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth hospital he is now at home and is physically fine.

Linda Bourne, the Godmother of  Nico said  Nioca was a devoted mother.

Meantime, staff at the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation, where Nioca worked in the canteen operated by her mother, are distraught.

Broadcaster Anthony “Admiral” Nelson told us the mother and son were very popular with the CBC staff.
