The Barbados economy is showing steady progress, but the Central Bank Governor is warning government not to become complacent since there is much more to be done.

In presenting the economic review for the first half of 2019, Cleviston Haynes said the most significant contribution to the fiscal consolidation had been reduced spending.

Mr. Haynes said that the conclusion of the external debt was important in attracting investor confidence.

Mr. Haynes explained that it was in the country’s interest to complete the external debt restructuring as soon as possible, he is hoping this can be done by the end of the year.
