Director of Economics at the Caribbean Developing Bank, Dr. Justin Ram is forecasting that unless this region halts the current economic slide it could become the poorest area in the world by 2050.

He expressed concern about the levels of poverty and unemployment in this region.

Dr. Ram was addressing the third annual Central Bank meets Blockchain conference which is on at the Barbados Hilton this morning. The conference helps regional governments and central banks understand how blockchain technology can enhance the financial system.
