BWA: No quick fix to water outage

What the general manager of the Barbados Water Authority calls the worse burst he has ever seen will mean that customers in parts of Christ Church and St. Philip who have been suffering from water outages for the past few days may have to endure disruption for a while longer.

Minister of Water Resources, Wilfred Abrahams and BWA officials held a news conference this afternoon to explain the massive burst that has been affecting water supply to several areas.

Mr. Abrahams says following completion of repairs to Hampton Pumping station it had remained a mystery why the water supply remained disrupted. But extensive investigations revealed the cause.

The BWA’s director of engineering Charles Leslie says it’s not a quick fix.

The BWA GM, Keith-Roy Halliday says it will be a very challenging repair job.
