Barbados and Ghana strengthening ties

Barbados and Ghana today signed two cooperation agreements as this country’s Prime Minister Mia Mottley pays an official visit to the African country to strengthen economic links.

Prime Minister Mottley speaking at Jubilee House where the President’s office is located spoke about the strong similarities between the people of the two countries and highlighted their planned areas of collaboration such as the Ghanian nurses that will arrive in Barbados in January to take up assignments.

Ms. Mottley noted that as she spoke other members of the Barbados delegation were attending a seminar for Ghanaian businessmen that had been oversubscribed with over 130 business people attending.

Meantime, Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo made mention of his recent visit to Barbados and said Ms. Mottley’s visit was part of efforts to revive and build the relation with the African diaspora in what he has been dubbed the year of return marking the 400th-anniversary first shipment of Africans taken to Virginia.
