Atherley not impressed

With ten new garbage trucks having hit the streets over the past week, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has promised that another ten will be on the island in a couple of months to help put an end to the Sanitation Service Authority’s garbage collection issues.

In an address to the Nation, Prime Minister Mottley also defended the procurement process for the recent batch of ten vehicles that arrived in the country.

Ms Mottley also disclosed the Barbados economy is well on the way to recovery with the foreign reserves at three times what they were when the Barbados Labour Party office came into power.

However, Opposition Bishop leader Bishop Joseph Atherley wasn’t impressed by the Prime Minister’s address seeing it as just a political pitch and appeal for the electorate to give the Barbados Labour Party government more time in office.

President of the Democratic Labour Party Verla Depeiza feels the Prime Minister might also have been laying the groundwork for more austerity to come.
