The names of the three Vincentian students who died in this morning’s accident, involving a car and a taxi, on the Graeme Hall section of the ABC Highway have been released.

The victims have been confirmed as 19 year-old Aziza Awanna Dennie; 17-year old Danee Deverey Horne; and 18-year old Carianne Lee-New Padmore. The three were a part of an internship programme between the St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Community College and the Crane Residential Resort … and were scheduled to return home today.

They were among five passengers travelling in the car driven by Crane Resort employee, 23 year old Andre Jabarry Gittens of River Land St. Philip, who also died at the scene.

The other two passengers, were 21- year old Kemelius Boyea, and 18-year old Darren Renaldo Daniel, who are also Vincentian students. They were transported to the hospital complaining for pains to the stomach and soft tissue injuries.

Meanwhile, the taxi driver- 52- year old Curtis Rock of Belleplaine St. Andrew complained for pain to his right hip and was also transported to the hospital. One of his passengers, 21 year old Kamillia Hunte of Pot House St. John sustained a laceration over her eye.

There were two other female passengers in the taxi who left the scene to seek medical attention. Police are yet to confirm their names.

Meanwhile, two other Vincentian students who were a part of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College’s internship programme with the Crane Resort — but not involved in this morning’s tragic accident, have returned home.

The two students arrived in St Vincent this morning, greeted by the families, members of the clergy, counsellors and Ministry of Education officials. However, they did not speak to the press.

Clare Keizer, Editor of the Searchlight Newspaper, says the news of the students’ deaths has thrown the country into a state of mourning.
