Lady Walrond passes

Prominent Barbadian attorney-at-law Beverly Lady Walrond has passed away in Miami, Florida four days after being critically injured in a car crash there.

Lady Waldrond’s husband Professor  Sir Errol Walrond sustained minor injuries in the accident.

A statement from the Walrond family confirmed that Lady Walrond died as a result of severe injuries in a Motor Vehicle Accident on Thursday the 5th of December.

The statement added “ The family would like to thank all those who reached out to us at this tragic time. Although we could not respond to everyone your support was much appreciated.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.”

Lady Beverley Walrond, QC was called to the Bar in Barbados in April 1974 and thereafter joined the Attorney-General’s Chambers as acting Crown Counsel, rising to Senior Crown Counsel.  In 1978 she entered private practice in Barbados as a partner in the law firm of Smith & Smith.  She later established her private practice and in 1995 was appointed a Queen’s Counsel.

Lady Walrond, a qualified Mediator, acted as a Judge of the High Court of Barbados on two occasions.

Her law firm specialized in family and child law.
